Summer adventures with your pooch

Summer is a great time to get outside with your dog. The weather is warm, the days are long and there are plenty of fun activities that you can enjoy with your furry friend. Here are some ideas for summer adventures:

  • Beach trips: Whether it's an afternoon walk along the shore or a weekend trip to one of UK's best beaches, taking your dog along for the ride is always fun!
  • One of the best ways to keep your pup entertained and active during hot summer days is to set up an obstacle course. This can be done either indoors or outdoors. You can use anything from jump ropes, hula hoops, chairs, crates, tunnels, and more to create the obstacle course. If you’re creating it indoors, try placing some toys or treats throughout the course to keep your pup interested and motivated.
  • Hikes: There are so many beautiful hiking trails out there--from easy strolls through local parks to full-day treks. If you're planning on going on a hike with your pup this summer, make sure to take plenty of water.
  • Swimming is a great way to beat the summer heat and get some exercise with your pup. Not all dogs are natural swimmers, so if this is your pup’s first time in the water make sure to take it slow and introduce them to the water gradually. Start off with a shallow pool or lake, and slowly increase the depth as your pup becomes more comfortable in the water.

When temperatures soar, it's important to keep your four-legged friend safe and cool, always watch out for the signs of heat stroke.
